I would take exception to this broad statement. For the most part, 

dosimetry is only required if there is the potential to exceed 10% of 

an annual dose limit, if under annual limits, or, 25% of a quarterly 

limit, if under quarterly limits. Some states actually exempt certain 

types of x-ray facilities from any dosimetry requirement.



In many instances the reason why facilities wear dosimetry is for the 

technician's peace of mind, and, the physician/dentist/practioner to 

know they have some documentation that defines their radiation work 

environment.
