RE: Beware the Laptop! (danger of wearing pants)

>PS. Where the H..l do I have that reprint BTW?

Found it! (I have a file filled with "funny publications")

The authors obviously had thermocouple devices to measure scrotal

temperature on nudists and non-nudists and people dressing and disrobing

(temp. = f(time). It was "trained nudists" and parallel controls for outdoor

measurements and then there were indoor measurements.

A I read this, I have a vague memory that another prof. in radiation biology

(now also prof. em.) mentioned that they had experimented on themselves

including in saunas and other contexts - but that is not mentioned in this

publication (they mention hot baths etc however).

I will give you 2-3 sentences from the last page:

"The fact that our modes of dress have been predominant for several

centuries might explain almost half the present load of spontaneous

mutations. We thus see how modes of dress based chiefly on sexual taboos

might imply genetic hazards 100 - 1,000 times greater than those estimated

from different sources of radiation (ref). If the eugenists regard this

increase as dangerous, the design of male clothing will have to be

reformed..."
