Re: H-3 efficiency on LSC




          The effeciency of the two different standards is probably
          due to sample preperation.  Strictly speaking, when
          preparing standards for LSC's, the effeciency is only valid
          for samples using the same counting cocktail.  Different
          cockails will have different counting characeristics. 
          Packard and LKB probably did not use the same cocktail.

          So why would the C-14 standards count the same?  Is it
          because of the higher energy?  Maybe the higher energy is
          compensating for the difference in cocktails.

          The effeciency will also be affected by the quenching of the
          standards (are they both unquenched?), and the age of the
          standard (degredation of the counting cocktail).  What were
          the actual effeciencies you were seeing?
