Radium's Use in Medicine -Reply

Suggest you check one of the fall 1993 or winter 1994 (?) issues
of "Smithsonian" (or was it "American Heritage"?) magazine for an
interesting article about "Radithor," a 1920s over-the-counter
remedy containing radium and thorium in solution. Mildly
radioactive bottles of the stuff can still be found in antique
shops and at flea markets in the Northeast--I came across a few
in Vermont. Also, radium spring water from Saratoga Springs,
N.Y.--as well as many other sources--was bottled and sold for
health purposes in the last century.
