Re: Course Announcements -Reply

It's late in the day and I'm finally getting around to looking at my e-mail. I
hope everyone isn't already sick of this subject, but I would like to put in my
two centavos and ask another question.

Yes, I am opposed to flat-out for-profit advertising on RADSAFE. However, I
would be very interested in an electronic bulletin board on training and other
services. I am hooked on this media and would welcome another use that would
help eliminate my having to hang on to every training bulletin I receive in the
mail. Besides, if the bulletin board were more current than the often too-late
announcements I receive in the mail, that would be a plus. I was not offended
by the announcement which appeared today, but it might irk me if the internet
was flooded with such things.

On the other hand, in the past we have been guilty of using the internet for
generating or monitoring interest in conferences and the like. Is this
considered an ad? I have also been approached by some local professors who
would like to put together a class this summer on low-level rad waste issues,
but they wanted to know how much interest there would be in such a thing. I
suggested a query could be posted to RADSAFE to see if anyone has any
interest/suggestions.

Is this appropriate? I don't want to offend anyone and potentially tarnish the
image of our distinguished institution. I think once they have gotten a good
idea of what their class is about they will advertise via the usual channels.
