Re: Radioactive material signs for labs
Radsafers -
Our facilities administrators would like to establish a uniform sign format for the
exterior of research labs. They want to know if it is acceptable from a rad safety
standpoint.
Their proposal is to have a 8" wide x 12" tall sign frame with six removable
components. Four components would each be 4" x 4", centered in the frame. There
would be two 8" x 2" strips positioned on top and bottom of the frame.
The top 8" x 2" strip would read "Caution,". The bottom would read "No food or
beverages".
One of the 4" x 4" components would be the yellow and magenta warning symbol with
"Radioactive Materials" in text below the symbol, others might be the "biohazard"
symbol or a blank. The sign would be positioned adjacent to the doorway, just below
eye level on the side of the doorknob. Not on the door. All warning signs
presently on doors would be removed.
Is this conspicuous enough to be acceptable under Part 20??
Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
