The University of Michigan Department of Occupational Safety and
Environmental Health (OSEH) is seeking qualified candidates for an entry
level Health Physicist position to coordinate, audit, and participate in
radiological safety activities relating to the safe use of radiation and
radioactive material at a large biomedical research institution.
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, developing,
coordinating, and conducting the following activities: radionuclide
authorization reviews, performance-oriented audits, calibration/maintenance
of radiation monitoring equipment, sealed-source leak tests, radiological
emergency response and facility decontamination, effluent/environmental
monitoring, task-specific procedure writing, and radiological safety and
regulatory compliance training programs. Position requires either a B.S. or
M.S. in health physics, radiological health, medical physics, or an
equivalent combination of education, training and experience; excellent
interpersonal communication skills and ability to work independent of direct
supervision.
