Apart from the 4 symposia, proffered contributions covering general radiation effects,
especially radiation chemistry, biology and molecular biology, will be incorporated in
oral and poster sessions.
Bursaries for young investigators
A limited number of ARR bursaries to cover the cost of registration and
accommodation are available to young investigators who will be expected to
present a paper or a poster, and must submit an abstract. Applicants should
send a CV and a letter from their supervisor/Head of Department supporting the
application. They should also declare if they have previously received an ARR bursary.
Priority will be given to ARR members. Requests, with supporting documentation
should be sent to Dr Monty Charles by 5 January 1996.
Venue
The meeting will be held in the Avon Room conference suite in the centre of the
University of Birmingham Campus, Edgbaston, Birmingham. Single room B&B
student accommodation is available at Chamberlain Hall and hotel-style
accommodation (including a limited number of double rooms) is available at the
nearby Lucas House Conference Centre. Accommodation is within 5-10 minutes
walk of the conference suite, but transport will be provided.
Travel
The campus has a British Rail station with a regular 15 minute service from the main
line at Birmingham New Street which is only 10 minutes away. Birmingham
International Airport has direct daily flights from New York, Chicago and most
European cities, and has good bus or train services within 15 minutes of central
Birmingham.

Instructions for preparing abstracts
Abstracts will be published in the International Journal of Radiation Biology.
Please send the abstract (and booking form) by 5 January 1996, to Dr Monty Charles
at the above address.
Alterations of abstracts will be accepted only up to 2 weeks after the meeting.
Abstracts should present introductory information, results and conclusions. Phrases
such as ".....will be discussed" are not acceptable. References should be kept to a
minimum and included in the text, e.g. (J. Smith, 1984, Int. J. Radiat. Biol., 45, 123).
Type on a separate A4 sheet starting 2.5 cm from the top, with 2 cm margins on
either side and extending no further than halfway down the page (preferably laser
printed).
Abstracts should not be more than 250 words in total, including: title, name and
affiliation of authors and typed, single spaced.
