Consensus Radiation Protection Practices

Schiager, et. al. under the auspices of Howard Hughes Medical Institute
have developed a set of consensus guidelines for biomedical research
using radioactive materials. The resulting journal article is the
Operational Topic in the December issue of "Health Physics."

It contains very useful concepts for the development of similar guidelines.

The "Authorization Procedure", "Radiation Safety Training", "Personal
Monitoring Criteria" (Especially Schiager's Bioassay Guidelines and
Tables) and "Security and Control of Radioactive Materials" are very well
thought out and reflect the vast collective experience of the authors.

A definite keeper.
