Maine Yankee - managed by Entergy!

This "management agreement" raises many issues. It will be
interesting to see how this works out. Some questions:

1. Management of the plant will be performed by Entergy. What
liability will Entergy have if and when there is a serious issue,
incident, NRC imposed fine, etc.?

2. Northeast Utility owns a large portion of the Yankee Electric
System. What liability or control has NE given up, accepted, etc. NE
already has its own problems with Millstone?

3. Is Entergy going to bring its own management team in, down to the
supervisor level, i.e., Rad Control, Chemistry, Outage Planning,
etc.?

4. Who does the NRC deal with and do the regulators even have a say
how this agreement will be managed?

5. There is mention in the article that the future will see a few
management companys running all of the nuclear units in this country.
That in itself poses interesting thoughts. Is this going to be just
like we see in the airline industry, the railroad systems, etc.?
Haven't they done wonders in their own respective industrys? Are we
facing more ValuJets? I sure hope not.

6. France and other countrys run their units. However, the primary
difference there is that there is standardization. That is a key
element. If the nuclear units in this country were standardized from
the beginning, there would most likely have been less problems.

It would be interesting to hear the perspectives from those working
for Entergy or Maine Yankee regarding their thoughts and any
apprehension they feel about this announcement.
