Hi all,

I agree that downloading files from some sites maybe hazardous, and you
need to be on the look out for virus and trojan horse programs.
Any file you download should be scanned for viruses to reduce the risks.
BUT, the sites such as Adobe and NCSA that have the .pdf and .ps readers
(what you are talking about)are reputable and take their own measures to
ensure that anything they have is virus free. Use reputable sites, such as
the developers for the software, and use virus protection software, and
you should have no worries. 

Trojan horse programs, along with viruses in general will be detected by
most of the current virus scanners, current being the key word.


This goes for floppy disks, as well as the net.
