For those of you within striking distance of Lake Tahoe I highly
recommend putting next year's J. Newell Stannard Lecture Series on your
calendar now. This year I attended for my first time; and I thought this
joint meeting of the Sierra Nevada and Northern California Chapters of
the HPS was the best technical meeting I can remember.

Held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Incline Village, Nevada, the meeting
room and the exhibit area were excellent. As a bonus the Lake was an
unforgettable cobalt blue, and some folks got in some super spring
skiing.

Preceded by outstanding PEP courses on Friday afternoon, Saturday was
devoted to a series of lectures.

Newell Stannard, gentlemanly and urbane as always, made opening remarks.
The lectures that followed were professionally presented, meaningful,
and mercifully devoid of a mere recitation of various rules and
regulations . The lecturers were experts, full of knowledge, not only
opinion; and their handed out material was far above average. There was
ample time for questions following each presentation.

Last but not least, the vibes were good, and the Saturday lunch was
delicious.

PEP courses followed by the Lectures on Saturday, April 18.
