FW: Low Doses and LNT -Reply



Exposure to natural radiation while flying would seem to be uotside the jurisdiction
of the NRC unless the operation is licensed for another reason.  If  the NRC
regulations (10 CFR Part 20) do apply, the air crew would need dosimetry if and
only if the doses were likely to exceed 500 mrem in a year.  Passengers would be
considered "members of the public" and so would not be required to wear
dosimeters.
