Industrial Radiography

Dear Radsafers,

I am looking for international regulations and industry experience with
radiation limits for the posting of boundaries in industrial
radiography. This is applicable mainly to radiography done in nuclear
facilities. I am specifically looking for the justification, from a
radiation safety viewpoint, as to why the limits are established at
these levels.
In Canada, our regulators, the Atomic Energy Control Board, have
established the limit to be 0.1 milliseiverts per hour (10 mrem/h) at
the perimeter of the area.
Ontario Hydro Nuclear is reviewing this and trying to determine if we
should establish the boundary at a more conservative 2.5 mrem/h to
remain consistent with the posting requirements for other radiological
hazards. We recognize that this will introduce all sorts of other
control problems.
Please reply directly to me if you have any information or experience to
share.
Thanks
