Appendix A: Fit TTesting Procedures (Mandatory)
Part I. OSHA-Accepted Fit Test Protocols
Paragraph A. Fit Testing Prodecures - General Requirements
Sentence 9:

"9. The test shall not be conducted if there is any hair growth between the
skin and the facepiece sealing surface, such as stubble beard growth,
beard, mustache or sideburns which cross the respirator sealing surface.
Any type of apparel which interferes with a satisfactory fir shall be
altered or removed".

OSHA has revised its respiratory protection regulation under 29CFR1910
and 29CFR1926.  I have not had a chance to review the changes in detail,
but this revision may provide useful information.
