RE: Skull Caps With Respirators

Mark-

For anyone who didn't know the final rule for respiratory protection
parts 1910 &1926 and in particular 1910.134 came out on Jan. 8, 1998.
The current 1910.134 will be recoded as 1910.139 effective April 8,
1998.

With regard to your question, Appendix A to 1910.134: 'Fit Testing
Procedures (Mandatory)' may be of interest to you. In App. A. 9. there
is a statement that reads .... ''Any apparel which interfers with a
satisfactory fit shall be altered or removed". If I interperate this
correctly, as long as the individual is fit tested with the cap on and
can get a satisfactory fit, your okay

By the way, if you want to view the standard go to (www.osha.gov) and
look under What's New (.pdf files are there) or you can go directly to
Standards.
