Skull caps under respirators -Reply



10CFR20,Appendix A,footnote b states,"Only for shaven faces and where nothing
interferes with the seal of tight-fitting facepieces against the skin.(Hoods and suits
are excepted)." It would seem that as long as the skull cap did not get between the
skin and any part of the mask intended as sealing surface then there is no problem
with their use.

This is a personal opinion and not an NRC interpretation.
