Dr. Brucer passed away a couple of years ago. Great man that he was,
he cultivated a bad habit of not providing references - you often had to
take him at his word. Still, he provided the following "citation"  that 
pertains to your question:  A. Polednak, 1954 Am J Epidemiology.
