NOTE: Incumbents in this position are represented by a union for
collective bargaining purposes.
DUTIES: Essential -- The incumbent is expected to provide daily
operational support to the external dosimetry program.
Independently process routine dosimeters, perform dosimeter quality
control irradiation, and evaluate and transfer processing data to
records database. Implement routine and special issue requests,
dose investigations, and report programs for external, extremity
and area dosimetry programs. Assist dosimetry technical lead with
DOELAP accreditation process including; issue, shipment, receipt,
and processing of dosimeters. Work with dosimetry lab staff and
LBNL division personnel to facilitate investigations for potential
personnel and environmental exposures and concerns. Keep management
informed of dosimetry problems and technical matters.
QUALIFICATIONS: Essential -- Substantial technical experience in a
radiation dosimetry program. Familiarity with radiation principles
and use of radiation sources. Experience processing and recording
dosimeters, including: routine operation and quality control of
Panasonic readers, and issue and receipt of various dosimeter types
and exchange frequencies. Ability to prioritize work and work
efforts of Dosimetry team, and adhere to deadlines. Proven ability
to work with all levels of management, technical and administrative
staff in a professional manner. Ability to work independently.
Ability to use software applications for database management.
Experience investigating and facilitating personnel and
environmental exposures Good verbal and written communication
skills. California drivers license is required. Marginal --
Experience with DOELAP accreditation processes.
