Re: NCRP#37 & Cremation

        Reply to: RE>NCRP#37 & Cremation

Hi RadSafers:

I've heard that NCRP#37 is under revision. Does anyone know what it's current status is, and when the revision may be published???

NCRP#37 does consider cremation but, cremation rates, permanent implants and therapeutic radiopharmaceutical administrations have all increased greatly since then. It's about time that a new analysis of this issue be performed. I don't believe it will be bad, but the answer should be more definitive than the current recommendation, which can be interpreted in different ways by different people.

P.S. - I believe Sr-89 administrations may become rarer in the future, in favor of the shorter half-life and faster acting Samarium-153.

Cheers,
