In principle, you are perfectly correct.  A poll that matters should be based on the
best available science.  In this case, however, the poll was designed to be biased. 
The RADSAFE effort is to counteract the built-in bias, at least a little.

As for the concern about people "finding out," I doubt that there is anyone who
cares and does not know.  Of course, a media flap can be generated, but this is true
no matter what is done or not done.
