Re: Medical Dosimetry Question:
To answer Mark's question, in most cases, a basic TLD that
measures gamma, x-ray, beat and neutron is adequate. IF the
individual is exposed to neutron energy above the AmBe/PuBe
energy of approximately 4.5 to 5 meV, one should consider a CR39
foil to be included within the dosimetry packet, to account for the
fast neutrons that the TLD is not best suited for. In most
applications, the individual is exposed to more of the thermal and
intermediate neutrons, and the higher level of dosimetry is not
usually required. However, you need to assess this when making
the decision of proper dosimetry.
