Re: personal shipment (transporting) RAM
Depending on where you are driving - private versus public roads - your status
within your company/facility to possess the material - status of your vehicle,
varying state to state and your drivers license endorsement, varying state to state
- you may or may not be allowed to transport RAM in your personal vehicle. I
apologize that this is not more of an answer.
But on the second point, auto insurance, there was a recent thread involving this
very same question. I asked my insurance agent this question and was told pointedly
that transporting RAM in my personal vehicle was not covered or referenced in the
average personal insurance policies but, if I was involved in an accident that
included release of radioactive material the decision to cover me would be up to the
underwriters.
Bottom line - they would not cover me and I could kiss auto insurance good-bye.
My best advice, leave transportation of RAM up to professionals, the cost is worth
the decreased liability.
