RE: Soil Scanning/Sampling reference documents
Jack Duray is no employed longer at DOE/Grand Junction, but Craig Little is
(my mentor and Section Head at ORNL/GJ).
The protocols developed for mill tailings/FUSRAP type surveys are dependent
on a good gamma signiture. Without knowing what you are trying to
characterize, these protocols may or may not be suitable for your needs.
A good document general document for surveys that I recommend is the DOE
Draft Environmental Implementation Guide for Radiological Survey
Procedures, Feb. 1997. It does not have a document number (long story,
don't go there). Contact Ken Duval at DOE/HQ for a copy. He can be
reached at 202-586-0242.
Of course there is the MARSSIM manual, developed by numerous agencies to
standardize surveys. It can be downloaded from the EPA or NRC websites.
