Radiation Protection Specialist
State of Kansas


The Department of Health and Environment is seeking qualified candidates for a
Radiation Protection Specialist
 position (#K0070005) in the Bureau of Environmental Field Services in Lawrence.
  This individual will perform
 inspections of mammography facilities and Kansas registered X-ray facilities,
participate in emergency response
drills for nuclear power plants including wearing respiratory protection
equipment.  EPA and OSHA mandates annual
medical examinations.  Requires Job knowledge at an entry level in radiological
health/health physics.   Prefer
certification as a Mammography Quality Standard Act Inspector, experience in
radiological health/health physics,
compliance review/inspection, radiologic technology, radiation protection, lab
technology or instrumental  methods
of analysis.  A degree in radiological science may be beneficial.  Strong oral
and written communication skills and
computer knowledge is highly desired.   Starting salary:  $28,412 annually plus
