we have used electronic dosimeters:  MG or SAIC PDE-4 with transmitters
in a plastic underwater camera case.

the advantage is that you know how your EDs respond vice your TLDs.

also, no need to have a separate instrument with parts, calibration
procedures, technician qualifactions, etc.

attach an underwater antenna to the umbilical cord, monitor with a
laptop computer.

personnally, I prefer the PDE-4 for this application because the exernal
detectors can be placed on the sides, while the maine unit is on the
bottom.  gives directional information.
