Position Description:

Performs complex health physics (radiological control) work to 
evaluate proposed equipment, facilities, procedures and personnel for 
adequacy to minimize danger to public health and safety or the 
environment for uses of radioactive material.  Work involves 
formulating and carrying out radiation control projects, including 
general licenses (GLs) and general license acknowledgements (GLAs), 
naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM) decontamination 
and/or processing, low-level radioactive waste processing and/or 
storage, and financial assurance plans; and analyzing, and/or 
controling radiological hazards.  Works under limited supervision 
with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent 
judgement.

Travel: 5% Day; 10% Overnight

Essential Functions:

60%: Serves as project team member for the Special Licensing Project 
as independent technical reviewer and coordinator of complex 
licensing projects.

20%: Serves as project team member for licensing activities of 
industrial uses of radioactive material.

10%: Provides technical information to applicants, licensees, general 
public and staff.

10%: Performs as project leader or project team member on other 
radiation control project teams.  Performs other duties as assigned 
to meet goals and objectives of the Licensing Projects of the 
Division of Licensing, Registration and Standards an the Bureau of 
Radiation Control.
