The menu choices will be Prime Rib of Beef or Chicken Marsala.  The 
cost for attending the entire event (afternoon workshop, dinner and 
evening speaker) will be $50.  The cost for attending the 
dinner/evening speaker will be $25. Please RSVP your attendance by

Afternoon Workshop:  JCO Criticality Accident

Our featured speaker for this workshop will be Valerie Putman.  
Valerie is currently working at INEEL as a Criticality Safety 
Advisory Engineer for Bechtel BWXT Idaho, Inc.  She has BS degrees in 
Math and Physics from the University of Utah, and a ME in Mechanical 
Engineering from the University of Idaho.  Since the JCO criticality 
accident occurred last September, she has provided comprehensive and 
widely distributed summaries of this event. These summaries have 
included information on the JCO operation, the chronology of events 
which caused it, radiological information, emergency response 
measures and much more. 

Evening Program:  State of the State

Our featured speaker for the evening presentation.  Ed Bailey is 
currently the Director of the Radiologic Health Branch of the 
Department of Health Services, State of California.  Ed will be 
bringing us the latest news and information on radiological health 
issues in California that affect us all. In the past, these meetings 
have also provided us with a forum for discussion so be sure to come 
prepared with questions!  

Our next meeting: 

The next SCCHPS meeting will be Tuesday, April 11, 2000.  We 
anticipate having an afternoon presentation by Dr. Marvin Goldman  
"Through the plutonium jungle with microscope, microfiche and 
microphone", and an evening presentation by Paul Rohwer, the National 
HPS President Elect.  The meeting place is still TBD.
