Re: Unplug Salem, etc.

What does PSEG do in their estuary enhancement program that destroys the wetlands? What quantity of fish are killed by PSEG because of their lack of cooling towers.. what species of fish are killed? I'd be willing to bet that PSEG's "estuary enhancement" program has done one heck of a lot less damage to marshes than all the continued coastal development in this country or all of the power boats that continue to spew toxins into our waterways.... or all of the storm drains drain into the watershed because people want to live near the coasts or on lakes in our country.... if people really care about the marshes and the coastal areas, the best thing they could do for those areas is to leave, pack up and move away. then there will be no more storm drain run off, and maybe, we should ban all powerboats from any water... if you want to be on the ocean you can only sail...and if we are going to protect fish, then we should outlaw "sport- catch and release" fishing, because recent studies have shown that about ½ of all fish that are "caught and released" die from the stress of fishing...
just some suggestions to consider in order to make our environments cleaner and safer for all of those creatures who share it with us...

pass it on. I do agree
that it would make sense to pass a condensed version of the 2 main threads,

as a lurker, the UNPLUG Salem list. Its open to anyone, feel free to join and
opine away.----------

Salem slaughters fish because pseg refuses to build cooling towers. PSEG's
so-called "Estuary Enhancement Program" destroys marshes. Our position has been
that it's just not worth the risk to South Jersey and Delaware especially when
there are safer alternatives available. So the odds of your emailing me a pile of
proof so convincing that we at UNPLUG call a meeting and disband is slim. But
then my idea of posting to this list wasn't to 'convert' anyone, just to listen
and learn, contribute where I could. -------
