With regard to the greenhouse efficacy of CFC-114, the EPA website www.epa.gov/spdpublc/ods.html gives the global warming potential (GWP) for many of the Class I ozone depleting substances. CFC-114 has a GWP of 9300 meaning that it is 9300x more effective than carbon dioxide. Its GWP is probably due to the destruction of ozone hence allowing uv radiation to heat the lower atmosphere.
