Radioactive Boy Scout (was RE: talk to journos)
The Nov. 1998 Harper's Magazine article about David Hahn, the "Radioactive Boy Scout" can be seen at

According to the article David worked to generate neutrons from his americium and radium sources with a beryllium target so that he could fission some uranium.
The 1998 article noted that Eagle Scout David eventually joined the Navy and was a seaman about the nuclear-powered aricraft carrier, the USS Enterprise. David refused to undergo tests to determine whether he had become contaminated from his expierments with radioactive materials. The article quotes David: "I wanted to make a scratch in life. I've still got time. I don't believe I took more than five years off of my life."
