     In NYC, there are many belt worn radiation detectors AND a few 

     spectrometers.  Not everyone is armed w/ a field spec (or other hand 

     held spec unit).  The police are identifying radiation and acting on 

     it.  There may not be time to get the guy w/ the spec on the scene.

     

     Did anyone read the NRC Event reports the other day?  A Troxler MSD 

     was reported stolen with a vehicle in NYC.  The vehicle was found by a 

     cop w/ a radiation detection device (the other story that shows the 

     process is working).
