1. In
regard to iodine-131 administration, does anyone follow precautions when
dealing with patients who have false teeth or wear contact
lenses? False teeth yes, contact lenses no. Are
the patients asked to remove them and if so,.... for what time
period? I have asked patients to remove false teeth only until
the dose is administered and several vial flushes swallowed. This
is for liquid doses. For capsules, it is not necessary to remove
false teeth.
2. What restrictions or precautions do others
follow for discharged patients who may want to hold or cuddle
infants? It depends on the mCi administered, the condition being
treated or evaluated, and the patient's pharmacokinetic parameters.
Do the dose calculations to make decisions about cuddling
infants.
