Re: Tracking Exempt Sources

The loss of several H-3 exit signs at a neighboring College prompted an
NRC inspection, however, the College had made an honest effort to reclaim
the missing signs and I'm fairly sure that there were no violations
issued. My reading of the general licensee requirements for H-3 signs
is that the owner must insure that the warning signs remain affixed, the
signs are removed from service if damaged, and the signs are properly
disposed. For this reason we maintain records of sign locations and
visually inspect them semi-annually. We don't consider the H-3 sign
activity as counting against our broad scope license limits.
