Dear collegues,
I suggest that you check the available literature like "Health Physics" or
probably the Journal of Environmental Radioactivity - there is enough in
literature available about Chernobyl - probably already too much. There are
many papers published about the fallout situation in Cumbria (not in North
Wales!).
The area which was probably most affected in Great Britain was Cumbria and
it is well known for all readers of the relevant literature, that most
problems were associated with sheep, which due to the semi-natural
environment were "highly" contaminated - which means, that the Cs-137
concentration in muscle was above the limits set by the Common Market or
European Union (whatever expression you prefer and whatever you think on the
sense these limits should make). It was a very unfortunate combination of
relatively low fallout concentration with very unfavorable environmental
conditions in the semi-natural environment in the mountains of Cumbria.
As Marvin pointed out, Brenda Howard is the ultimate expert on these
questions. I don´t have her address at hand, but it can be easily found in
the above mentioned journals together with her papers. I suppose that the
papers will answer the question anyway.
I have no disclaimer. I simply don´t understand, why you Americans need
disclaimers for your personal opinion which is signed by yourself. I have
been taught since I was a small boy (a very long time ago!!) that the USA is
the country where all citizens are free to express their opinion!!!!!
