Re: Hoods for Iodination



On this thread there have been several comments on the composition of the hood to 
prevent plating out of the iodine so that the hood can be *decommissioned*.  This is all 
well and good but there is still the duct work, plenum, blower, and stack.  For 
*decommissioning* as specified in 10 CFR 30, the radioactive material plated out on 
these surfaces must also be considered, correct?  If you are talking about 
*decontaminating* the hood surface for unrestricted use, then these considerations are 
appropriate.  Let's not confuse decontaminating a local work area with decommissioning a 
facility.
